Kipling's greatest success is the "Jungle Book". The story of the young Mowgli, who grows up in a wolf family on holiday in India, has the tiger Shir Khan as his enemy and the bear Baloo as his friend, is world-famous. But Kipling's literary model is much more complex. What the film adaptations present as a coherent story are, for Kipling, individual, independent narratives and poems that make up eight out of fifteen chapters in his two "Jungle Books" published in 1894 and 1895. The colour of the body, Montblanc calls it jungle green, is a reference to the jungle with its countless shades of green. The wolf's head on the clip represents the wolf family in whose care Mowgli grows up. The champagne gold overlay features two monkeys and a tiger pattern, reminiscent of Mowglis comrades in the jungle. The champagne-coloured 18-K gold nib is decorated with the engraving of an elephant's head as a reference to Rudyard Kipling's life and work. The first and last lines of the famous poem, IF, by Kipling are engraved in the head of the cap and on the end of the shaft.
